Ron Bone, 1950 - 2011, was born in County Durham and studied at the Bath Academy of Art between 1968 and 1972, graduating with a BA (Honours) degree. He then went on to study at the Royal College of Art, London in 1973, leaving in 1976 with his Master of Arts degree.

Ron Bone taught for some years before becoming involved with film and television. However, he turned to painting on a full-time basis and  held one-man shows in Broadway and London over many years with considerable success.

Group shows included the Royal Academy and the Royal West of England Academy. The paintings of Ron Bone can be found in private collections worldwide.

In his paintings, Ron takes a look back over his shoulder at a slower and quieter world of past years, recreating an exquisitely detailed view of life where houses have settled into the landscape and possessions are handed down from generation to generation.  Although people are not directly portrayed in my work, I look upon many of the paintings as portraits.  They depict a moment, a thought, a quiet corner, favourite possession or an activity interrupted, frozen for an instant, awaiting the subject's return.
