My still life paintings are usually quite small. I use pure watercolours, building up colours and tones in transparent layers and I always work in natural light. I like to paint objects that are translucent, transparent or lustrous - porcelain bowls, some very old, lustreware jugs, mother of pearl shells, little white eggs [given to me years ago and blown so I can keep them], enamelware and glass, sometimes adding a tiny bottle of flowers.
