Brynolf Wennerberg
1866 - 1950
Wennerberg, from a wealthy family in Sweden, moved to Bavaria as a young man, subsequently spending time in England following family tragedies, and then moving to France. At the outbreak of war in 1914 , he moved back to Germany, continuing a hugely successful career as a poster artist and illustrator. Much of his work was for American magazines between the wars.
This delightful work, the husband glancing impatiently at his watch as he waits for his wife to finish dressing, may be a subject not unknown to this day.
