William Henry Hunt OWS 1790 - 1864, was a painter and watercolourist of fruit and flowers, rustic genre and landscape subjects. he trained with renowned watercolour artist, John Varley, and in 1807 began to exhibit oils at the Royal Academy. In 1808 William Henry Hunt entered the Royal Academy Schools.
He was elected to Associate membership of the Royal Watercolour Society in 1824 and was made a full member in 1826.
William Hunt's early work was mostly landscape, rustic genre or architectural studied much influenced by his early teacher, John Varley.
About 1827 he turned to painting fruit, foral and still life subjects, leading to him being referred to by some writers as "Bird's Nest Hunt".
