A painter of genre, literary subjects, portraits and landscape, George Wells lived in London and Bristol. He exhibited between 1842 and 1888 at the Royal Academy, British Institution, Suffolk Street, New Watercolour Society and elsewhere. Titles at the Royal Academy included A Scene from Kenilworth (1849) and An Autumn Afternoon on the Llugwy, North Wales (1880).
