Emily Myers was born in Somerset in 1965. At the age of 18 she had intended to undertake a degree in art history, but instead took a year out and enrolled on an Arts Foundation course at Camberwell College of Arts, London. This was followed by a degree in Ceramics at the University of the West of England, Bristol. She has been a professional potter since graduating in 1988.

At 25, Emily Myers became the youngest Fellow of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain, and in 1991 was accepted onto the Craft Council’s index of selected makers.
