William Lee-Hankey was a painter and etcher of landscapes, figure subjects and harbour scenes who was born in Chester and studied both there and in Paris. He exhibited in London from 1893, at the Royal Academy, Old Watercolour Society, New Watercolour Society and the Royal Institute of Painters in Oils. Lee-Hankey lived for many years in France, where he painted many of his pictures. He won many medals, and his work is represented in collections both in England and abroad.
