George Owen Wynne Apperley
1884-1960
A painter, born at Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. He was educated at Uppingham and at Torquay School of Art and briefly at St. Leonard's Art School before attendingBushey Art School studying under Herkomer, 1903-04. He exhibited at the RA, Leicester Galleries, at the Baillie Gallery and Walker's Gallery, London and at major exhibiting venues in England and Europe. He was an elected a member of the RI, 1912 and spent many years living in Spain and North Africa, dying in Tangier.
His work is in the collection of the Bushey Museum, Ferens Art Gallery, Southport Art Gallery, Watford Museum, Hertfordshire, V&A, Museum of Málaga, Museum of Modern Art, Madrid and Sydney Art Gallery, Australia.
